Marco Boerries has global responsibility for all aspects of Yahoo!’s Connected Life Division which focuses on connecting people to their passions, their communities and the world’s knowledge – anywhere, anytime, on any device. The division encompasses the company’s mobile and Connected TV teams around the world, including Yahoo!’s revolutionary Yahoo! Go, Yahoo! oneSearch and Yahoo! oneConnect products for mobile. Marco is an established industry leader with a compelling vision for enabling digital mobility across mobile, TV and broadband industries.

Under Marco’s leadership, Yahoo! has reached a leadership position – with more than 60 carrier partners globally adopting Yahoo! oneSearch and advertising partnerships with many of the world's leading operators, publishers and agencies.

Marco joined Yahoo! in 2005 with the acquisition of VerdiSoft. He founded the company in August 2001 to pursue his vision of enabling Digital Mobility across the mobile, broadband and home networking markets. Prior to founding VerdiSoft, Marco worked at Sun Microsystems as the Vice President and General Manager of Webtop and Application Software. In this role, Marco drove the development of the Solaris Common Desktop Environment, Netscape for Solaris and OpenOffice.org. As the de facto open source ambassador for Sun, Marco was instrumental in introducing the GNOME project – a free and facile desktop environment for the end-user, and a powerful application framework for the developer.

Marco is also the creator of the popular StarOffice Suite. He founded Star Division at the age of 16, dropping out of high school to pursue his vision of creating an alternative to Microsoft software. Marco sold StarOffice to Sun Microsystems in August 1999.

Biography

David Ko is senior vice president of Connected Life and has global responsibility for all aspects of Yahoo!’s mobile business including Yahoo! Go, the company’s award-winning mobile application, Yahoo! oneSearch, Yahoo! oneConnect, Yahoo!’s mobile developer platform and mobile advertising initiatives. David is also responsible for strategic partnerships with more than 100 leading mobile operators and device manufacturers around the globe.

Prior to this role, David was managing director and vice president for Yahoo!’s Connected Life business across Asia. In this capacity he was responsible for extending Yahoo!’s mobile products, broadband services, Connected TV initiatives and PC client experiences. David grew carrier partnerships in Asia Pacific from zero to 24 in 16 months and oversaw the deployment and distribution of Yahoo! oneSearch, Yahoo! Go, as well as mobile advertising across the region.

Since joining Yahoo! in April 2000, David has held various leadership roles within the organization and was a key contributor to the distribution strategy of Yahoo! products such as Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Games, Yahoo! Photos and Yahoo! premium services.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, David served as a senior associate for Equity Capital Markets at Salomon Smith Barney, where he was responsible for identifying, executing and closing deals in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. Before joining the Equity Capital Markets group, he was a financial analyst for the Investment Banking Division in Global Energy.

David is a graduate of New York University, Stern School of Business. He lives in San Francisco with his family and enjoys reading tech blogs, photography and playing golf on the weekends.

Mitch Lazar

Biography

As Vice President and Managing Director of Connected Life in Europe, Mitch Lazar’s focus is to grow Yahoo!’s mobile business across the region. He is responsible for business development, product, marketing and operations of the Connected Life business in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Yahoo!’s Connected Life business unit comprises the company’s mobile and digital home businesses, including strategic alliances with some of the world’s largest telecommunications companies and global device manufacturers.

Lazar joined Yahoo! in November 2005. Prior to taking over the helm as MD & GM of Connected Life Europe, Mr. Lazar was VP of Commercial Services, driving business development, monetization and partner operations.

Before joining Yahoo!, Lazar was Vice President, Wireless and Emerging Technology at Time Warner, where he worked for Turner Broadcasting System and America Online driving their global strategy and mobile distribution efforts.

Lazar was an early pioneer in digital media, and one of the founders of CNN.com in 1995. In 1997, he pioneered and launched CNN mobile, the world’s first wireless global news and information service. He later rolled out Cartoon Network mobile services around the globe.

Lazar has been based in London, England for the past 10 years. A native of Miami, Florida, Lazar is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism at Columbia. Before relocating to London, he studied at Georgia State University working on his master’s degree in business administration.

Biography

David Katz is the vice president, mobile advertising and publishing for Yahoo!, Inc., where he has global responsibility for the company’s mobile advertising and publishing strategy. Yahoo! is an early and aggressive leader in mobile advertising, with clear leadership in both display advertising and search marketing.

Prior to his current role, David served as Yahoo!’s vice president of corporate strategy and head of strategy for Yahoo! Mobile. He worked with the company’s executive team on top strategic priorities including product planning and direction, significant corporate partnerships, cross-functional initiatives and M&A, including the acquisition of Right Media, the largest Internet Advertising Exchange. David was also charged with advising on top strategic priorities for Yahoo! Mobile, including Yahoo!’s industry leading mobile advertising partnership with Vodafone UK.

Before joining Yahoo!, David was a consultant with McKinsey & Company’s West Coast Technology, Telecom and Media (TTM) practice with clients in the software, interactive TV and wireless industries. David also served as a strategic technology analyst for AirTouch Wireless (now Verizon Wireless/Vodafone Ltd.) where he was responsible for identifying emerging wireless technologies, defining market opportunities and evaluating corporate investments.

David has also been active in political and public affairs and has held senior positions in several US Presidential campaigns, the US Department of Commerce and the G-8 Summit organizing committee.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and an M.B.A from the University of California, Berkeley.
